44 Farms Team Invitational Results | Chippewa Challenge Results
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Seniors Saraiah Walkes and Gabe Singh both finished with Mid-American Conference-best times to highlight the Eastern Michigan University track and field teams action this weekend at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University, at E.B. Cushing Stadium, and the Chippewa Challenge, hosted by Central Michigan University, at the Lyle Bennett Track, Friday-Saturday, April 11-12.
Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.88 and finished seventh in the 200m with a time of 23.30, both tops in the MAC this season, personal bests, and ranking as the third-best times in EMU history.
Singh's (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Northview/Oakland) personal best 400m hurdle time of 50.67 placed third in the event's field of 32, is the best time in the MAC this season by nearly three full seconds, and is the third-best time in EMU laurels.
How it Happened – Women at 44 Farms Team Invitational
Walkes' performances highlighted the Eagles' trip to College Station, Texas, but she was not the only one re-writing the EMU record book. Freshman Shamoya Clemetson (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) finished in the top 10 in every event of the heptathlon, with the best mark being a 14.37 in the heptathlon 100m hurdles, good for second-best in program history.
Women's Results - at Chippewa Challenge
Freshman Mia Biehl (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) set a new personal best in the 400m dash with a 58.42 mark, placing fourth in the event. Senior Nyla Joseph-Guevara (Coral Springs, Fla./Fort Lauderdale) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.40m (17-08.75), and senior Isabella Brent (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) finished second in the hammer throw with a 52.42m (172-0.0) mark.
How it Happened – Men at 44 Farms Team Invitational
In addition to Singh's top time in the 400m hurdles, sophomores Cason Doolittle (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) and Samuel Jeffery (Fonthill, Ontario/E.L. Crossley Secondary) put together fantastic performances in the decathlon, setting multiple EMU top 10 decathlon marks. Doolittle had a personal best of 50.76 in the 400m dash that ranks third in EMU decathlon history, and he also tied the fourth-best mark in the high jump with a 1.92m (6-03.50) leap.
Jeffery set top-10 decathlon marks in shot put (11.76m (38-07) No. 6), 110m hurdles (15.71, No. 6), discus (30.99m (101-08) No. 10), pole vault (3.70m (12-05.50) No. 7), javelin (51.55m (169-01 No. 3), and the 1500m run (4:40.30 No. 3).
