Track and Field Sees Eight First-Place Finishes at Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs competed at the Silverston Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan at the U-M Indoor Track and Field Building, Friday, Feb. 16.
Meet Notes
» The men's program had two program top-10 marks and six personal-best efforts while the women's team had one program top-10 mark and six personal-best efforts.
» Eight student-athletes claimed individual victories at the meet.
How it Happened
Fleur van der Linden (Drunen, Netherlands/d'Oultremont College) moved into ninth place in the record book with her first-place finish in the pole vault. She cleared 3.85m (12-07.50) to claim the individual title.
The Eagles turned in an outstanding effort in the high jump as Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich./L'anse Creuse) won the event after clearing 1.72m (5-07.75). Teammate Natalie Buratczuk's (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North) personal-best mark earned a third-place effort with a mark of 1.67m (5-05.75).
Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) won the weight throw with a mark of 19.29m (63-03.50).
Nikol Antoniadi (Didmoticho, Greece/Geniko Lykeio Didimotichou) recorded back-to-back personal-best efforts in the 60m hurdles. After establishing a mark of 8.81 in the prelims, she garnered another top time by crossing the line in 8.79 for a second-place finish in the finals.
On the men's side, Ryan Johnson (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) had an outstanding day, winning the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 21.87m (71-09.00), moving up to fourth in program history. Teammate Jake McEachern's (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) personal-best effort of 19.60m (64-03.75) allowed him to take third and stands as the ninth-best toss in Eastern history.
Johnson's mark of 14.67m (48-01.75) was good enough for second place in the shot put while Samuel Jeffery (Fonthill, Ontario/E.L. Crossley Secondary) took fourth after a personal-best effort of 11.66m (38-03.25).
Eric Haddock Jr. (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh/Appalachian State) won the long jump with a leap of 6.64m (21-09.50). Ousman Kamara (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) claimed the high jump title with a personal-best effort of 2.08m (6-09.75).
Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France/Lycee Honore d'Estiennes d'Orves/American International) won the 60m hurdles after clocking in at 8.15. Teammate Kyle Martin (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) won the 400m with a time of 48.94.
Gabe Singh (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Northview/Oakland) and Shelton Bass (Warner Robbins, Ga./Houston County) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 200m. Singh crossed the line in 22.26 while Bass finished in 22.36.
