- The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team swings into Mid-American Conference action this Friday, Sept. 24, when it begins a three-game homestand with Ohio University at 4 p.m. The Eagles are unbeaten in MAC home openers all-time and will look to maintain that trend against the Bobcats at Scicluna Field.

EMU will also host the Akron Zips this Sunday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. The Eagles are hoping home field advantage is just that as they tied Ohio and Akron on the road in 2009.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS: Ohio University enters Mid-American Conference play with a 3-3-1 overall record and on the heels of a 4-2 road victory against Morehead State last Sunday, Sept. 19. The Bobcats' other two wins have come against Pittsburgh and Marshall with a 1-1 tie at Cleveland State. Ohio has eight different players tied with one goal this season while Cathryn Rogers and Katie Kemen have added two assists to lead the team with four points. Goalie Mattie Liston has allowed just seven goals through as many games while stopping 39 shots and posting two shutouts.

A LOOK AT THE ZIPS: The University of Akron enters the weekend with a 2-5 record and having lost four in a row and five-of-six dating back to Aug. 29. The Zips are coming off a pair of losses at the UNLV Rebel Classic where they fell to UC-Davis, 2-0, and Long Beach State, 4-1. So far this season, Akron has been outscored, 13-8, by its opponents including 10-1 in its last four matches. Offensively, the Zips are paced by Leigh Cullen and Katie Wise, who have each recorded three goals this season. In goal, Jeny Wolbert has gotten the bulk of action, playing all but 22 minutes this season while stopping 40 shots and recording one shutout.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles battled a pair of Western Athletic Conference teams at the Wolf Pack Invitational in Reno, Nev. last weekend. In the opener, Katie Marsh netted the game-tying goal with just over a minute remaining in regulation to send the match to overtime against San Jose State. But a quick goal by the Spartans, just a minute and a half into the extra session, ended it. EMU tried not to leave Reno empty handed and played Invitational host, Nevada, to a scoreless tie at halftime. However, the Wolf Pack roared out of the intermission with three second half goals to take the 3-0 victory.

A NEW ALL-TIME SAVES LEADER: Senior goalie Monique Budani surpassed 300 career saves when she made eight stops against San Jose State Sept. 16, and then set the EMU all-time career saves record when she deflected 11 more shots against Nevada Sept. 18. Budani, who now has 315 career saves, overtakes former Eagle Nikki Allen ('04), who had held the mark at 312 saves. So far this season, Budani is averaging more than eight saves per game, having totaled a MAC-leading 74 saves through nine matches this year.

ALL ABOUT THE MAC: The Eagles open up Mid-American Conference play this week with a pair of matches against Ohio and Akron at home. EMU went 6-1-1 at home last season against conference opponents including a 3-0 victory over Kent State in the first round of the 2009 MAC Tournament. The Green and White is coming off back-to-back seasons in which it placed second in the overall standings and made it to at least the semifinal round with a runner-up finish in 2008.

MAC HOME OPENERS: EMU is unbeaten all-time in MAC home openers, compiling an 11-0-2 record against its conference foes. The Eagles will open conference play against Ohio for the first time ever Friday, Sept. 24.

ZIPPING PAST AKRON: Eastern Michigan has enjoyed great success against Akron in its previous six meetings, going 4-0-2 and outscoring the Zips 13-3 during that span. The Eagles also posted four shutouts in those meetings including a 0-0 draw on the road Sept. 25, 2009.

ROAD TRIPPIN': Eastern Michigan completed its second four-game road trip of the season as it begun 2010 with eight of its first nine games away from home. The Eagles began the trip with a 3-2 double-overtime victory over Valparaiso Friday, Sept. 10, before falling to Northwestern, 3-1, their third Big Ten Conference opponent of the season, Sunday, Sept. 12. The Green and White concluded their trip with the Wolf Pack Invitational in Reno, Nev., Sept. 16-18, where they dropped a pair of matches to first time opponents San Jose State (3-2 OT) and Nevada (3-0).
