Sipsock nets lone goal in 48th minute
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team took its first Mid-American Conference win of the season against the University at Buffalo with a 1-0 contest Thursday, Sept. 18, at Scicluna Field during Homecoming Week. Junior Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) scored the only goal of the match during the 48th minute while Eastern fought off a 17-4 shot margin in favor of UB.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first half, freshman Meredith Werner (Broadview Heights, Ohio/North Royalton) found Sipsock in the far left corner. Sipsock launched a high left-footed shot towards the far post, barely passing over the goalkeeper's glove to give Eastern the lead. Despite being outshot 8-3 in the second half, the Eagles defense held on to their 1-0 lead, stopping any chances of a Buffalo draw.
