Eagles held Flames scoreless through 66 minutes
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team fell, 1-0, in a close match to the Missouri Valley Conference's UIC after a 67th-minute goal at Scicluna Field, Aug. 21.
Eastern's loss marks the first time it has dropped a match to UIC in the series that began in 2014.
How It Happened
In the 33rd minute, goaltender Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) made a leaping stop on a high attempt from the Flames for one of her six saves of the match, keeping the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes.
Despite Eastern's 2-1 advantage in corner kicks through a scoreless first half, the Flames drew first blood on a 67th-minute own goal to take the lead.
