Swim and Dive Preps to Host Akron

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive teams will host the University of Akron at Jones Natatorium Friday, Oct. 31, 4 p.m.

All-Time Against Akron
The Eagles hold the lead in the all-time series with a 16-4 record against Akron, and a 9-2 mark when facing them at home. Eastern won the first 16 contests, while Akron has won the last four matchups. The teams last met in the 2023-24 season, a meet that Akron won with a score of 174-124.
Season-Opening Highlights
With the Eagles' split of dual meets in the season-opening Eastern Classic, Oct.10-11, the teams saw many top finishes. For the divers, Aisling Gutierrez (New Kent, Va./New Kent), took first place in the one-meter, with a score of 257.60, followed by Cate Migliori (Stockton, Calif./San Joaquin Delta College), who took second with 231.75 points. In the three-meter, Marnie Howard (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community West), took first with a score of 235.05, followed by Migliori, earning second again with a score of 226.40.
For the swimmers, Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay), won both the 100y and 200y breaststroke with times of 1:03.33 and 2:20.91, respectively. Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre), won the 1650y freestyle in 17:02.37, along with earning second in the 400y individual medley, and second in the 500y freestyle. The Eagles swept the 400y individual medley with Shayne Patrick (Reno, Nev./TMCC), Oz, and Morgan Hofmeister (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty), filling the podium spots.
