SCOUTING MICHIGAN: The Wolverines, in their 10th season as an official program, are 6-3 overall with a single Big Ten Conference game played so far this season. UM defeated Big 10 member Ohio State University on the road, March 9, by a 14-12 decision in favor of the Wolverines. Already on a three game win streak, UM will face No. 7 Northwestern, March 16, before facing the Eagles two days later on their home turf. Michigan is a clean 3-0 in games played at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium this season and looks to stretch it to four after hosting the Eagles Sunday. Leading the pack is sophomore Jill Smith, who has produced 38 points on 34 goals and four assists, so far.

QUICK REVIEW • ST. BONAVENTURE: Despite a fourth-quarter push which included a four-point run for the Eagles, the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team fell to the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies, 14-8, March 14, on Scicluna Field. Tracy Grollman led the team with three points off three goals (3-of-4), good for her first career hat trick. Abby Alderman led the team in draw controls with her career-high five.

QUICK REVIEW • XAVIER: The EMU lacrosse team fought valiantly, but ultimately fell short to fellow first-year program Xavier University, 11-10, Sunday, March 12, at Corcoran Field in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The visiting Green and White offense had a great showing as five different Eagles found themselves on the scoring sheet with two earning hat tricks. Mackenzie Blackwell led the way as she collected four points off four goals (4-of-14), one ground ball, one caused turnover and three draw controls, while Sydney Lawrence followed with three points off three goals (3-of-11), two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls.

HATS OFF TO YOU...& YOU TWO: Avery Schwab, who was the first Eagle in program history to record a hat trick, opened the flood gates for the rest of her teammates. After the pair of Schwab and Skylar Hilmer netted the first two hat tricks in the same game, March 7, the duo of Sydney Lawrence and Mackenzie Blackwell followed with their own hat tricks both against Xavier, March 12. Tracy Grollman then earned her first, the program's fifth, against St. Bonaventure to mark the third consecutive contest for the Green and White with at least one memeber earning a hattie.

POINTS GALORE: The Eagles recorded a program-record 17 points (10g-7a) at Xavier, March 12, upping their mark by two after recording 15 against Delaware State, March 7. Additionally, the 11 points collected against St. Bonaventure, March 14, marked the fourth consecutive game in which Eastern Michigan has recorded double-digit points in a match. The lone game that did not reach the double-digit mark was the team's first against Niagara, Feb. 16, where the Eagles recorded just seven.

NOTHING BUT DIMES: The seven assists at Xavier, March 12, tally as the most in a game in program history, overpowering the three set in all other games played, including the St. Bonaventure setback, March 14. Avery Schwab currently leads the Green and White with six helpers on the season and ranks fourth in the MAC for assists per game with 1.20. Her four against Xavier marks as a program record.

TAKING TURNS: Eastern's 10 goals against Xavier, March 12, were scored by five different players  while the eight against St. Bonaventure, March 14, were also scored by five different members of the team. Excluding the team's inaugural game, the Green and White have recorded five or more players with at least one goal in every game this season.

ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR: Mackenzie Blackwell became the program's first ever player to score four or more goals in a single game after she posted four against Xavier, March 14. Her nine total season goals leads the Green and White while her 3.80 shots on goal per game ranks eighth in the league.

SCOOP-EM UP: The Eagles had 10 players record at least one ground ball as the team collected 23 total against St. Bonaventure, March 14, marking the program's second highest amount of team ground balls.  Then against St. Bonaventure, EMU collected 13 ground balls in the game marking the fourth consecutive contest in which the team has registered double-digit ground balls. The team's season high 31 was set in their first ever win against Delware State, March 7.

CONTROLLING THE DRAW: The team's 15 draw controls against St. Bonaventure, March 14, was five shy of its season-high of 20 set against Winthrop, March 3, and is the second highest number of won draw controls this season. Sydney Lawrence's 3.80 and Mackenzie Blackwell's 3.40 draw controls per game rank fourth and fifth in the MAC, respectively. The team's .508 draw control percentage is good for second in the league while its 13.0 draw controls per game ranks fourth.

ONE-AND-ONE: Two Eagles recorded a single goal and an assist in the contest against St. Bonaventure, March 14, highlighted by Avery Schwab and Sydney Lawrence who each tallied two points. It was the fourth consecutive game in which a single player records at least one goal and one assist in the same game, and marks Lawrences' second of the season accomplishing the feat.

CAUSING PROBLEMS: The Eagles currently lead the MAC as they are averaging 9.67 caused turnovers per game, a number that also ranks 28th in the nation. Sydney Lawrence leads the way as she is tied for the league lead with 2.00 caused turnovers per game, which also ranks 18th nationally, while Gina Jaffurs stands third in the MAC and 48th in the NCAA with her 1.67 per game average.

UP NEXT: Following the game against Michigan, the Eagles will return home in time to host Marquette University, Friday, March 24. The game is set to be played on Scicluna Field with an 11 a.m. start time.
