The honor is the first of the senior's career and first for the Eagles in the 2023 campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's cross country senior Esme Davies (Lake District, England/Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league announced today, Oct. 17.
 
Davies' recognition comes after another stellar performance from the senior harrier. She finished her fourth consecutive race tabbing a personal-best time as she finished the 6k at the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M University in 19:54.3, finishing ninth individually out of 400 total competitors. Prior to the Arturo Barrios, Davies notched three straight top-five finishes, with one each at the Jeff Drenth Memorial (2nd), Sept. 1; the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open (3rd), Sept. 15; and the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic (4th); Sept. 30. Overall, Davies paced the Eagles to a ninth place finish out of 42 teams in Texas.
 
The Eagles are next in action Friday, Oct. 20, as they are slated to host the Annual EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. The men's 5k will get underway at 4:30 p.m, followed shortly after with the women's 5k at 5 p.m. Fans can follow along with live stats with final results being posted once all times and finishes are made final.
