Skyler Lester wins the high jump title, while EMU finishes second in the long jump and triple jump
NOTRE DAME, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and team concluded a busy weekend as it finished off its indoor regular season schedule at the Alex Wilson Invitational Saturday, Feb. 22 inside the Loftus Sports Center. The meet serves as EMU's final test before competing at the 2020 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships in Akron, Ohio, Feb. 28-29.
The Eagles earned one event title and were runners-up in the two other field events in which they competed. Junior Skyler Lester (Miarietta, Ga.-Marietta) claimed first prize in the high jump with a mark of exactly 2.00 meters. From there, senior Carlos Sanchez Juan (Onil, Spain-Ies La Creueta) finished second in the long jump with a distance of 7.02 meters, while redshirt junior Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va.-Fishburne Military) competed in the triple jump and with a mark of 15.41 meters.
A pair of EMU freshmen also participated in the 400-meter dash, as Dorian Hooker II (Sylvania, Ohio-Northview) won his heat and placed seventh overall with a time of 49.14 seconds, while Trent Barron (Flint, Mich.-Carman-Ainsworth) ranked 12th as he crossed the finish line in 49.77.
