The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field teams travel to a pair of locations this weekend, April 26-28. With just two weeks until the 2012 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, the Eagles are looking to tune-up by traveling to both the Hillsdale Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.

Action will begin at the Hillsdale Gina Relays Thursday, April 26, with the men's decathlon at 3 p.m. and will continue through the evening with 10 total events running until 10:30 p.m. The final event will be the men's 10,000-meter run.

The second portion of the men's decathlon events will start Friday's action at 9 a.m., with the women's heptathlon to follow. Field events on the slate for Friday include the men's hammer throw and high jump, as well as the women's long jump and shot put, all of which will take place at noon. Preliminary races for the sprints and hurdles will take place from 1 p.m. until 5:40 p.m. Friday afternoon. The championship races for the distance events will follow, lasting until 9:40 p.m. when the 10,000-meter championship run will take place.

Saturday will conclude the action at the Hillsdale Gina Relays with a quartet of field events, the men's javelin throw and triple jump, as well as the women's discus throw and pole vault. All of Saturday's field competitions will take place at 10 a.m. to start the day. Running events will start at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon with the women's 4x100-meter championship race and continue until 4:15 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter championship. A total of 18 running races will crown champions in Saturday's action.

At the Penn Relays, the women's team will be sending a select group, including three relay teams to take part in the nationally renowned competition. Along with the relay teams Asia Rawls will take part in Thursday's 100-meter hurdles, while Tatijana Jacobson and Kate Wolanin will compete in the high jump on Thursday. Rosie White will be participating in the long jump and Angela Scarber will toss in the hammer throw, along with Lydia Gomez-Diaz. Victoria Voronko will also compete in Philadelphia as she will take part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

"We are continuing to improve with each meet and this is the perfect weekend to step up our level of performance another notch as we will face outstanding competition at both the Penn Relays and the Hillsdale Relays,” said head women's coach Sue Parks. “We will be running against some of the top teams and athletes in the country at Penn and it will be a great test for our athletes."
