Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Michigan State

The Eagles move to 15-29 after today's games, while the Spartans go to 18-24.

Senior Kyle Rhoad (Fostoria, Ohio-Elmwood) improved his team-best hit streak to 10 games this afternoon, going 3-for-7 with two runs scored in two games, while junior Todd Graves (St. Mary's, Ohio-St. Mary's Memorial) went 3-for-7 with two RBI at the dish.
Senior pitcher Bobby Henderson (Milford, Mich.-Detroit Catholic Central) picked up the victory for the Eagles in game two, giving up no runs on just two hits over four innings to improve his record to 1-1 this season.

In game one, the Eagles broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the seventh, as a sac-fly by junior Jim Gulliver (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) plated Rhoad to put EMU ahead, 5-4. But the Spartans tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and went on to score the game winner in the bottom of the eighth on a Jeff Holm RBI single.
In game two, Skirving gave EMU all the runs they would need, as his two-run bomb in the third scored Gulliver to put the Eagles ahead, 2-0. Henderson and the EMU pitching staff would limit the Spartans to just one run the remainder of the contest to seal the victory.
The Eagles are back at home this weekend for a three-game Mid-American Conference West Division series, as they host the Ball State University Cardinals, May 1-3, at Oestrike Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while games two and three are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
