Baseball Swept by Miami, 6-3

OXFORD, Ohio - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team fell, 6-3, to defending Mid-American Conference champion Miami University, Sunday afternoon at McKie Field. The Eagles fall to 13-15 (5-4 MAC) and the RedHawks improve to 12-15 (4-5 MAC) with the sweep of the weekend series.
EMU held a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning but could not hold on as Miami plated four runs on four hits to take a 6-3 advantage that they would not relinquish. Sophomore Steve Bradshaw led the Eagles going 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. Senior Will Strewardson (2-1) picked up his first loss of the season pitching 8.1 innings with one strikeout, one walk with four earned runs. Senior Jason Brown went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored to lead Miami.
EMU came out to take an early 2-0 lead as Bradshaw scored on a throwing error in the top of the first and hit a single in the second inning to score freshman Kyle Rhoad.
Miami responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with two runs to tie the game, 2-2, spurred by a Chris Nadeau triple and Brown single. The RedHawks added four more runs in the eighth en route to the 6-3 victory.
EMU will host the #18 Division II ranked Lakers of Grand Valley State University, Tuesday, April 11, at 5 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.
