Falcons Come to Town for Senior Day Sunday Afternoon

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University tennis senior Daphne Friedrichs will be playing in her final regular season match as an Eagle Sunday, April 19, when the Green and White (7-13, 3-4 MAC) squares off with Bowling Green State University for a 1 p.m. match at the Claudia Wasik Tennis Complex. In her previous three seasons, Friedrichs is 1-1 in singles play against the Falcons (0-15, 0-6 MAC) and 1-2 in doubles play. Following the match, there will be a short presentation to honor Friedrichs career at EMU.
In the overall series between Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, the Eagles hold a commanding 30-12 advantage, having won six of their last 10 contests with the Falcons. Last season, EMU and BGSU met on the court twice, sweeping Bowling Green on both occasions. In the regular season matchup, the Eagles defeated the Falcons, 7-0, March 29, 2014. Eastern Michigan swept doubles play easily before sweeping singles action as well. The Eagles needed just one three-set match in the singles portion of the dual to take all six contests.
EMU met Bowling Green again in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Championships, April 25, 2014. The Eagles defeated BGSU easily yet again by a tally of 4-0. The Green and White took the doubles point as their No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams won their matches, leaving the No. 2 match unfinished. Moving on to singles action, the Eagles' No. 4, 5 and 6 players swept their matches without dropping a set, giving Eastern a clean sweep, advancing EMU to the semifinal round.
