EMU ready for two-game home stand
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- » WHAT'S ON TAP: At 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8, the Eagles will host the No. 74 University of Akron Zips before hosting the Bulls of the University at Buffalo on April 9 at the Chippewa Racquet Club in EMU's Mid-American Conference weekend home stand.
» SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: The Zips currently sit tied atop the MAC standings (with Miami) and are also nationally ranked (No. 74) in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. At 13-3 overall (3-0 MAC) Akron has strung together five straight wins. Buffalo, opposingly, is tied at the bottom of the conference with an 0-3 MAC record and 4-9 overall mark. Akron recently defeated UB, 7-0, and are currently 1-6 in their last seven matches.
» THE SERIES: The Eagles and the Zips will face off for the 25th time on April 8. Eastern Michigan has been more than dominant in the series, holding a 21-3 advantage, but Akron has won the last two meetings between the teams. EMU last won a 6-1 decision on April 18, 2008, in Akron. Versus the Bulls, EMU boasts an 8-3 overall mark, but hasn't beaten UB since the day after it last beat Akron, April 19, 2008 in a 4-3 win.
