Omar Ahmad joined Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics in April of 2025 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in collegiate and professional athletics, performance leadership, and program development.

In his role at Eastern Michigan, Ahmad will focus on cultivating philanthropic partnerships, supporting student-athlete success through development initiatives, and enhancing the overall experience for alumni, donors, and fans.

Ahmad joined EMU after four years with the New York Jets (2021–25), serving as the Lead Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. There, he oversaw the design and implementation of high-performance training programs, incorporating advanced technologies such as GPS tracking and force plate analysis to monitor and optimize athlete readiness. His efforts directly contributed to reduced re-injury rates and consistent strength and power output among players throughout competitive seasons. In recognition of his professional excellence, Ahmad was selected as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the West Team at the 2025 East/West Shrine Bowl, one of the country's premier college football all-star events.

From 2019-21, he served as assistant athletic director and Head Sports Performance Coach at Richard Bland College, where he not only led the sports performance department but also played a key administrative role. He contributed to the initial stages of a fundraising development initiative, laying the groundwork for future success and long-term impact.

Before his time at Richard Bland, Ahmad held positions at several institutions, including HCA Virginia Sports Medicine, where he worked with youth, amateur and professional athletes, University of Missouri, where he helped develop Olympic-level athletes in track and swimming, and University of North Carolina Asheville, his alma mater, where he served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for six years.

Ahmad is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina Asheville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Promotion in 2008. As a student-athlete, he competed in track and field for four years, specializing in the long and triple jump. He graduated as the school record holder in the triple jump, was a three-time team captain, and served as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, exemplifying his leadership both on and off the field.

Ahmad earned a Master’s in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise and Fitness from UNC Pembroke. He later completed a Doctor of Education in Global Sports Leadership from East Tennessee State University in 2021. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), USA Track and Field (Level 1), and USA Weightlifting (Level 1), and is CPR/First Aid certified through the American Red Cross.

Ahmad and his wife, Anna Parlier-Ahmad, have a son, Solomon Parlier-Ahmad (2).
