Jessica Nietrzeba enters her first year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development for EMU Athletics after previously serving the department in a multitude of roles since 2008.
Most recently, the Erie, Mich., native, served the University as the Director of Engagement and Outreach, focusing on alumni relations from 2018-22. Prior to the director position, Nietrzeba was the Assistant Director for Advancement Activates from 2010-18. After putting in time as the Graduate Assistant of Athletic Development from 2006-08, Nietrzeba secured a full-time role working for the Green and White as an Athletic Development Assistant from 2008-10.
In her time at Eastern, she has garnered numerous awards. Nietrzeba was awarded the Ron Oestrike Distinguished Service Award in 2019 and was a NACDA/NAADD Diversity Initiative Recipient in 2023.
Graduating from Mason Senior High School in 2002, Nietrzeba went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Siena Heights University, before earning a master’s from Eastern Michigan.
A former college athlete, Nietrzeba played softball for the Saints from 2002-06, where she was a team captain, a two-time team MVP, and three-time All-WHAC First Team selection. She was inducted into the Siena Heights Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 2017 class for her collegiate career accomplishments. Nietrzeba also went on to coach the sport, as she served Concordia University – Ann Arbor as an Assistant Softball Coach from 2012-16.
Nietrzeba currently resides in Romulus, Mich., with her two dogs, Lucy and Leroy.
