Gabriel Schmidt is entering his 4th year as an Academic Coordinator at the Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) Offices for the Eastern Michigan University athletic department. In his role as a Coordinator, Gabriel currently works for the Women’s Soccer, Gymnastics, Rowing, and Volleyball teams, acting as a liaison between Athletics and Academics. His duties include meeting with Freshmen to help facilitate the transition into college, provide academic support in the forms of developing study skills, and being a general resource for members of his teams.
Prior to joining the Eagles, Gabriel worked at his Alma Mater at Lake Superior State University, where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations and Compliance. In his role at LSSU, he oversaw NCAA Compliance for all of the Division II teams and the Division I Hockey program, provided support for Student-Athletes, and managed Game Day operations. Additionally, he served on hiring committees to fill out the Coaching and Athletic Training staff.
