Elena Davis serves as the External Relations Graduate Assistant for Eastern Michigan University Athletics beginning in Fall 2025. In this role, she provides integral support across multiple areas, including media relations, broadcasting, social media, marketing, and community engagement. Davis assists in the creation of EMU’s digital content, contributes to video production, and serves in both on-air and off-air capacities. She will maintain a visible on-air presence through EMU’s ESPN+ broadcasts and will expand her involvement by joining the WEMU radio crew for football game days.
Davis is the 2025–26 recipient of the prestigious J. Clarence and Courtney S. Fountain Sportscasters Scholarship, awarded to students demonstrating a strong commitment to a career in sports broadcasting or journalism. She began her journey with EMU Athletics in January 2025 as part of the ESPN Campus Production Program, where she co-hosted basketball halftime shows and reported from the sidelines for men’s and women’s basketball as well as baseball. She also launched “Eastern Weekly Recap,” a student-led social media video series.
A passionate advocate for EMU spirit and pride, Davis was a four-year member of the EMU cheerleading team, earning the Eagle Spirit Award all four years for her enthusiastic representation of the University on and off the field.
In addition to her athletics involvement, Davis held leadership positions within EMU’s student media. As Sports Editor of The Eastern Echo from May 2024 to May 2025, she oversaw a team of writers and editors, produced compelling sports coverage under tight deadlines, and collaborated with University athletics leadership. Her tenure as a sports reporter prior to that included establishing the sports section’s social media presence and extensive event coverage.
Davis also participated in EMU’s “E-Ambassador” Program from January 2024 to May 2025, serving as a content creator who helped elevate the University’s digital brand and student engagement.
The Brighton, Mich. native earned her bachelor's degree from EMU in Public Relations along with a double minor in Communication and Journalism in April 2025. She is pursuing a master's degree in Sport Management.
