YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team honored its 2026 senior class as it concluded the home portion of the season with a 62-54 loss to Ohio University Wednesday, March 4, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

Eastern recognized Sisi Eleko (Montreal, Quebec/New Hope Academy/Canisius), Brooklyn Thrash (Wayne, Ohio/Elmwood/Canisius), Artemis Kouki (Athens, Greece/ACS Athens/Western Michigan), and Ainhoa Cea (Irun, Spain/IES Pio Baroja Bhi/Lipscomb).

The Eagles were paced by a trio of double-digit scoring nights from Eleko (12 points), while both Peyton Hill (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) and Fernanda Ovalle (Santiago, Chile/Montverde Academy/Xavier) scored 11.

How it Happened
Eastern got off to a productive start, leading the Bobcats, 9-5, at the first media timeout. Ohio went on a 12-2 run over a 3:21 span to end the first quarter on top, 17-11. Hill led the team with five points.

Eastern trimmed the Ohio lead to two at 25-23 with 3:35 to go in the first half. Points came at a premium in the latter half of the quarter as Eastern held Ohio without a field goal the final 5:00 of the quarter and went on a 7-0 run over the last four minutes. Despite Ohio's scoreless drought and the EMU run, the Bobcats remained in the lead, 27-25, after the first half of play.

The defensive battle continued into the second half as Ohio maintained a 37-33 edge at the third quarter media timeout. Eastern's deficit continued to grow, and the Eagles faced a 45-39 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Ohio kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 56-40 advantage before Eastern Michigan went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Cea's three, to shrink the deficit to 56-49 with 2:48 to go in the contest. Ohio responded and outscored the Eagles the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 62-54.

Game Notes
» Eastern's record went to 12-16 (5-12 MAC), and Ohio's shifted to 16-12 (10-7 MAC).
» Eastern grabbed 46 rebounds, its third-highest total of the season and second most against a MAC opponent after it grabbed 51 rebounds at Buffalo, Jan. 28, 2026.
» EMU forced 20+ turnovers for the seventh time this season, resulting in a 4-3 record.
» Eastern outrebounded its opponent (46-45) for the 17th time this season, producing a 10-7 record.
» Eastern's bench scored 15+ points for the seventh time this season.
» Fernanda Ovalle scored in double-digits for the 17th time this season and 25th of her career with 11 points. She has scored at least 10 points in four consecutive games for the first time since Jan. 17-28.
» Peyton Hill recorded her 21st double-digit scoring game of the year with 11 points. She paces MAC freshmen this season in double-digit contests.
» Sisi Eleko scored 12 points for her 27th double-digit outing of the season. She has scored at least 10 points in all 27 games she has played this season.
» In her final home collegiate contest, Brooklyn Thrash totaled two blocks, her fifth time this season securing multiple in a game. She grabbed seven rebounds as well, marking her sixth time this season with seven or more rebounds.

Historical Notes
» Eastern Michigan and Ohio met for the 71st time overall and 32nd time in Ypsilanti. Eastern is 28-43 when facing the Bobcats and 15-17 when playing them at home.
» After scoring 11 points against Ohio, Peyton Hill totals 385 points this season, the seventh most by an EMU freshman in program history.
» Peyton Hill has the most games with double-digit points of an EMU freshman (21) since Courtnie Lewis recorded 22 10+ point games in the 2017-18 season.
» With her three rebounds, Ainhoa Cea is just one rebound away from eclipsing the 500-rebounds mark.
»  After scoring 12 points,  Sisi Eleko needs 21 points to reach 1,000 in Eastern Green and White. Should she meet the standards, Eleko would be the 25th player to score 1,000 points in their EMU career.
» Ainhoa Cea dished two assists to bring her season total to 166, the sixth most in one season in program history. She needs five to surpass Cassie Schrock for the No. 5 spot as she dished 170 assists in the 2009-10 campaign.
» The Eagles have recorded at least one three-pointer in 160 consecutive games, the second-longest stretch since the start of the 1999-00 season. The longest streak in that period is 281 games, which began with seven makes at Northern Illinois, Jan. 31, 2002, and ended with no makes in the MAC Tournament, March 11, 2011, against Toledo.
