TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Mohammad Habhab led the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team against the University of Toledo Saturday, Feb. 21, inside Savage Arena in Mid-American Conference action as EMU fell, 94-75.
Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn/Central Michigan) had 21 points, nine rebounds, and six assists to top the Eastern performances in a game that Toledo led for all but the first 16 seconds.
Mehki Ellison (Flint, Mich./Carman Ainsworth/Stetson) was the other Eagle with double-digit points with 12 as Eastern's showdown with 27-0 and 22nd-ranked Miami awaits Tuesday, Feb. 24, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. Tickets can be purchased here.
How It Happened
Toledo controlled the game from the jump, building a 24-point lead at 40-16 with 5:06 to go in the opening half.
Eastern used a 6-0 spurt to soften the blow, but the Rockets extended their advantage to as many as 25 at 51-26 before settling for a 51-29 halftime lead.
UT expanded its lead to as many as 28 points at the 14:21 mark before EMU cut the deficit to 17 at 75-58 with 7:32 to go.
The hosts pushed their lead back to as many as 24 in the closing minutes, winning 94-75.
