Eastern opens season at home, Nov. 3, against Georgia State

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team has announced its 2025-26 schedule, in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference's schedule release, Thursday, Aug. 21.
Eastern plays 31 regular-season games, highlighted by four power conference foes, two MAC-SBC Challenge matchups, a pair of in-state out-of-conference games, and 18 MAC contests.
EMU will open the season at home with the MAC-SBC Challenge, Nov. 3, hosting Georgia State University before traveling to the University of Pittsburgh, Nov. 10.
After a home game against Indiana University Indianapolis, Nov. 14, EMU will battle in-state foes University of Detroit Mercy (road, Nov. 18) and Oakland University (home, Nov. 21).
Thanksgiving week will feature three games for the Eagles, including road contests at powerhouse University of Louisville, Nov. 24, and at the University of Cincinnati, Nov. 26, before EMU returns to the George Gervin GameAbove Center to host New Jersey Institute of Technology, Nov. 28.
Eastern quickly returns to the road to face Butler University, Dec. 2, prior to hosting Cleary University, Dec. 5, in its first doubleheader of the season with the EMU women's basketball team, which takes on Defiance College ahead of the men's game.
Sandwiched between non-conference games at Purdue University Fort Wayne, Dec. 10, and at Wright State University, Dec. 22, comes Eastern's first MAC game of the season, a road contest at Akron, Dec. 19, EMU's earliest MAC game in a non-COVID season since the 2004-05 season.
The Green and White then get into the thick of conference play, meeting new MAC member University of Massachusetts, Dec. 30, in the teams' first meeting since 2013.
After five more conference games, the EMU men host Kent State University, Jan. 24, in a doubleheader with the EMU women's team.
The Eagles' MAC slate will be split up with the second leg of the MAC-SBC Challenge, Feb. 7, in a road game that will be against an opponent to-be-determined.
Eastern, which also plays against Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University on the road earlier in the season, will host its in-state rivals in consecutive home games, Feb. 14 and Feb. 17, respectively. Eastern will play home-and-home against its Michigan MAC counterparts for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign.
EMU will round out the regular season at the University at Buffalo, March 3, prior to hosting Bowling Green State University, March 6, the first time Eastern will close the regular season in Ypsilanti since the 2016-17 season.
The top eight teams in the MAC standings will qualify for the 2025 MAC Tournament with first-round action set to begin March 12 inside Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The championship final will be played March 14 with the winning team earning an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
