Baiyok Sukterm Selected MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

Junior tied for second while helping EMU defeat two nationally ranked teams in Kansas
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University junior Baiyok Sukterm has been named the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced today, Oct. 10, following her strong showing at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate presented by PDI earlier in the week.
Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) battled the rain and a tough field in Hutchinson, Kan., to tie for second place as she shot 3-over 143 (71-72), the third-lowest 36-hole score in program history, while leading the team to a tie for second place that saw the Eagles finish ahead of both No. 25 Baylor (fourth) and No. 12 Oklahoma State (fifth). Sukterm came out strong and shot 1-over 71 despite a 4:45 lightning delay to post the third-best score in the field in the opening round before closing in 72, the ninth-best score of the day. All told, Sukterm played in her 10th career 36-hole tournament and finished in the top two for the 10th time after she won six times and was runner-up three times with Barton CC as a freshman in 2023-24. Overall, Sukterm finished ahead of five players that were ranked in the top 100 of the final Scoreboard/Clippd rankings for 2024-25, including two that finished among the top 30 of stroke play at the 2025 NCAA Championships.
Sukterm is the second EMU player to earn the MAC weekly honor after teammate Janae Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) was selected for the award Sept. 19 after winning her second of back-to-back titles to open the season.
Eastern is back in action for its final fall tournament, Oct. 20-22, when the Eagles head to Hawaii for the 2025 Rainbow Wahine Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii, on the Hokuala Ocean Course in Lihue, Hawaii.
