Holdren Schedules Four Fall Meets

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University rowing Head Coach Brad Holdren announced his teams schedule for the 2013-14 season on Friday, Aug. 23.

The squad will open up the fall season on Oct. 6 when they travel to Oklahoma for the Head of the Oklahoma race before competing in the Occoquan Chase on Oct. 13.

The Eagles will close out the month of October at the Head of the Grand on Oct. 20 and will conclude their fall slate on Nov. 2-3 when they compete in the Head of the Hooch.

Holdren and his team will open up the spring schedule on Feb. 22 when they travel to South Carolina for the Clemson Scrimmage in preparation for their first dual on Mar. 1 in South Carolina.

EMU will compete in the Oak Ridge Sprints on Mar. 15-16 before having two undetermined races on Mar. 22 and Mar. 29.

Eastern opens up April with a trip to Alabama for the Alabama Dual on Apr. 5 in preparation for the Lubbers Cup on Apr. 12, in which the Eagles varsity four squad took second behind Grand Valley, while the novice events were cancelled due to inclement weather in 2013.

The Eagles will have one final race, which will be determined before they participate in the 2014 Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association (MACRA) Championships on Apr. 26. Last season, Eastern had a strong showing at the MACRA Championships as the varsity four "B" team finished first, while the varsity eights finished second and the novice eights finished second.

EMU will participate in the CAA Championships on May 18 for just the second time, as the Eagles joined the league in the 2013 season where they earned a pair of fifth place finishes.

The Eagles return all but three in their first varsity eight and three from their second varsity eight for the 2013-14 season.
