Eagles Bring Home Seven Wins at Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team recorded seven individual victories Saturday afternoon, Feb. 16, at the Silverston Invitational in the University of Michigan Indoor Track Building.
EMU two-sport athlete Ryan Brumfield led the Eagles with two wins on the afternoon, taking the high jump and long jump with leaps of 6-feet 6-inches and a season-best 22-feet 1-inch, respectively. Brumfield's teammate in both football and track, Donald Scott, secured victory in the triple jump with a jump of 47-feet 10-inches, Scott's fourth victory in the event this indoor track season. Solomon Ijah took runner-up behind his teammates in a pair of jumping events, the triple jump and long jump.
In the 200-meter dash, the Eagles swept the top three spots on the podium as Matthew Williams' time of 21.74 was the top mark in the race. Jason Ervin and Chris Scott finished behind Williams in their respective second-place and third-place positions.
EMU also saw runners in green and white finish in the top three positions in the 400-meter dash. Tyler Ross barely edged out teammate Chris Scott with a 49.45 as Scott ran a 49.48. Fontaine Holland placed third in 50.06.
Sophomore sprinter Cameron Bolton took the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 6.93 as another two-sport star for the Eagles, Bronson Hill, placed third. EMU also saw a win from Mason Waynes in the 600-meter dash (1:22.91), and Khalil Boussi finished in a close second (1:24.34).
Two other second-place finishes capped off a strong invitational for the Green and White. Jeff Elam's 8.34 in the 60-meter hurdles was a runner-up time as well as a leap of 16-feet 10.75-inches from Max Babits in the pole vault.
The biggest meet of the year awaits the Eagles as they host the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 22-23, at Bob Parks Track in Bowen Field House.
