Box score.
EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs, but it was not enough as the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell to Clemson University, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 16-25, 14-25), Saturday morning, Sept. 11, at the Spartan Invitational. The setback snapped the Eagles' nine match winning streak, as the Tigers improve to 7-1 on the young season.
Coming into the day the EMU was hitting a stellar .249 clip, but the athletic Clemson squad limited Eastern to a season-low .088 (49-35-159). Iaquaniello was the only Eagle to reach double figures in kills, sophomore Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) finished with nine put-a-ways with Erin Short (Orrville, Ohio-Orrville), Paige Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy) and Jenn Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) each posting six kills.
Sandra Adeleye finished with 11 kills and Natalie Patzin has 10 as the Tigers dominated the net with 18 blocks on the day.
Eastern looks to rebound later this afternoon against instate rival Michigan State University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Jenison Field House.
