Adam Kring and Dave Adamek Compete in NCAA Championships

Two athletes the only EMU representatives in Fayetteville, Ark.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--Eastern Michigan University track competitors Dave Adamek (Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada-Crystal Beach) and Adam Kring (Jeddo, Mich.-Port Huron Northern) both came up with strong efforts but did not place in their field events here Friday-Saturday (March 10-11) in the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track Championships in the Randal Tyson Indoor Track and Field Building. The two men’s competitors were the Eagles’ only representatives at championship meet. The EMU women’s team had no one qualify for the meet.
Adamek finished 13th here Friday in the finals of the shot put with a throw of 58-feet-9.25 inches. He, made the NCAA field after breaking the Mid-American Conference Championship Meet record in the shot put with a winning throw of 61-feet-11.00 inches (18.87m) at the championships, Feb. 24-25. His winning shot put effort earned him the Most Outstanding Field Performance Award.
Kring, a junior transfer from the University of Michigan, finished 15th in the finals of the high jump here Saturday with a leap of 6-feet-10.25. Kring had qualified for the NCAA’s in the high jump with a leap of 7-feet-1.75 inches at the Akron Open, Feb. 4. Kring was second in the high jump at the MAC Championships at 6-feet-10.75 inches.
The NCAA Indoor Track Championships are the final official meet of the 2006 indoor season. The Eagles will move right into the outdoor season, April 1, at the Cincinnati Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
