Women Finish Fourth at MAC Indoor Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio--The Eastern Michigan University women’s track team finished fourth overall at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted in the Perry Center by Bowling Green State University. The Eagles finished behind Akron, Ball State and instate rival Western Michigan.

The Eagles entered they day in eighth place after the first day of competition Friday. Leading the way for EMU was senior Patrice Beasley (Romulus, Mich.-Romulus) who claimed the individual championship in both the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash, and also helped the team in the 4x400 meter relay as the team finished in second place. In the triple jump, sophomore Ashley McCullough (Dayton, Ohio-Colonel White) finished in fourth place with a total of 39 feet-11.5 inches.

Also finishing strong for the Eagles was senior Lauren Snell (Medina, Ohio-Medina) who finished in sixth place in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:58.04. Senior Shamarie Giscombe (Kingston, Jamaica-St. Andrews) and sophomore Andrea Wheeler (Suffolk, Va.-Lakeland) also had a strong showings in the 60-meter hurdles finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
