BUFFALO, N.Y. –
The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team pushed its winning streak to four, as the Eagles defeated Mid-American Conference East Division foe Buffalo Friday night, Oct. 27, here at the Alumni Arena. The Eagles won the match 3-1 (30-24, 27-30, 30-28, 30-26) to push the squad's all-time record to 11-0 versus the Bulls.

With the victory, EMU improves to 9-14 (3-8 MAC) on the season while Buffalo fall to 13-15 (2-9 MAC) on the season.

In game one, the Eagles led by as many as five points, but the Bulls rallied midway through the game to tie the score at 11-11. UB would eventually take its first lead at 12-1 but the advantage would be short lived as EMU used 12-7 run to retake control at 23-19. However, the Bulls would not go quietly remaining within striking distance as Eastern was able to close out the first set, 30-24.

In the second frame, EMU jumped out to a 15-9 lead, but Buffalo closed the gap to four points at 18-17. The Green and White were able to push the lead back to five points at 25-20, but once again the host Bulls would mount another come-from-behind charge to take a 27-26 edge. The Eagles were never able to get back on track as Buffalo evened the match at one game a piece taking game two, 30-27.

Despite losing game two, the momentum was building for the Eagles as they reached the midpoint of the game first with a 15-13 lead. The Green and White saw the edge grow to four points at 23-19 and took a two games to one lead by winning game three 30-28.

In the finale, UB moved out to a quick 9-4 lead and continued to battle as EMU would not let the game get out of reach. Trailing by a slim one-point at 14-13, EMU would rattle off seven-straight points to claim its first lead in the fourth game, 21-14. EMU would hold serve the rest of the set to claim game four, 30-26.

Three Eagles tallied double-digit kills, including senior Lindsay Piccolini who added 22 kills and five blocks in the victory. Junior Becky Reenders added 17 kills and four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assist), while freshman Victoria Randolph tallied 15 kills and eight digs. Junior Kate Sulewski added 60 set assists.

For Buffalo, Nikki Morzenti who finished with a team high 19 kills, while recording 14 digs. Fellow senior, Jenna Mapé also notched a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs.

The Eagles continue their road trip Saturday night, Oct. 28, visiting the University of Akron. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
