Natalie Cizmas Earns Second Straight MAC Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University senior track and field athlete, Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) earned Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 4, the conference announced, Feb. 6. She earned this award for her outstanding performance during the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3. This is the senior's second straight week earning the honor.
The Clinton Twp., Mich.-native had another career-day in the second half of the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Cizmas ran strong to a finish of 4:39.98 in the mile, which nearly missed the EMU all-time mark of 4:39.84, while topping her old personal-best that she set in last week's GVSU Lints Alumni Open, Jan. 27. Additionally, the Clinton Twp., Mich. native's time now ranks first in the event for the MAC, and 13th in the nation.
Cizmas and the Eagles look to carry their momentum into this weekend's action, where they will take part in the GVSU Big Meet Friday, Feb. 9, and the Husky Invite in Seattle, Wash. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10.
