YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Junior Tosh Kawaguchi (Cary, N.C.-Cary) of the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team was named CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer of the Week for the Mid-American Conference for his superlative performance against MAC-foe Miami, Jan. 27. This is the third time Kawaguchi has earned the weekly award this season.

The Cary, N.C. native brought in a meet-high 27 points against the RedHawks with three individual event wins alongside a relay first-place finish. Opening the meet with the 200 medley relay, Kawaguchi helped his cohort to a first-place finish by clocking the fastest 50 backstroke split in the pool. The junior then went on to sweep the back events for the second time this season. In the 100 back, he turned in a time of 48.94 to take the top-spot, while using a blistering time of 1:46.20 to take the 200 back. Kawaguchi capped his afternoon with his third event win in the 200 individual medley. Besting the field at 1:50.11, he finished nearly five full seconds ahead of the runner-up.
