Eagles Finish Off Day One of SVSU Jets Pizza Invitational

Senior Colin Etchen earned the team's lone individual event title in the pole vault
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team opened up its weekend at the SVSU Jets Pizza Invitational Friday, Jan. 26, in University Center, Mich.
A mix of track preliminaries, relays, and field events split the day, with EMU having the most success in the latter. Senior Colin Etchen (Edgerton, Ohio-Edgerton) walked away with the only individual event title of the evening, notching first place in the pole vault with a height of 4.96m. Redshirt senior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) had an impressive day solely focusing on the long jump, where he claimed second place with a distance of 7.30m.
The distance medley relay squad also put up an outstanding showing, as senior Csaba Matko (Racalmas, Hungary-Szechenyi Istvan Gimnazium), freshman Dennis Manyeah (Darby, Pa.-Pennwood), sophomore Dan Kuhn (Erie, Pa.-Harbor Creek), and redshirt senior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich.-Mason) all contributed to a finish of 10:02.97, which earned them a spot at the top of the podium.
Tomorrow will conclude the remaining portion of the events, including the 60m hurdles, 60m dash, and 200m dash finals, which junior Frank Douglas (Mansfield, Ohio-Madison Comprehensive), and senior Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) qualified for today.
