Women's Golf Looks to Repeat at KZoo Classic Champs

PORTAGE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf remains in the state of Michigan for its second tournament of the fall with a trip west to participate in the Kzoo Classic hosted by Western Michigan University, Oct. 2-3. Competition will take place at the par 72, 6,163 yard Moors Golf Club with both days set to begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Joining EMU and WMU in the six-team field will be Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Green Bay, Ohio, and Western Michigan.
Led by a pair of second-place finishes last year, EMU finished atop the leaderboard by 17-strokes with a 896 (293-298-305). Ball State University finished 18 shots back of the Eagles with a 913 (302-302-309), while host WMU claimed third (313-304-308=925). Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) and Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) tied for second-place with three-round totals of 222.
Designed by famed golf architect Arthur Hills, The Moors' par 72 layout measures 6,796 yards (73.4/135 course rating/slope) boasting some of the best conditioned greens in the state. Completed in 1979, this breathtaking property weaves its way through Woodbridge Hills, over scenic bridges and protected marshlands.
