Third-year Head Coach Pina Gentile is taking a majority of her squad north to take part in the tournament. Scheduled to compete for the Green and White are sophomore Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne), senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand), junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), and sophomore Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford). Playing as an individual and making her EMU debut will be sophomore Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa University).
The Mary Fossum Invitational, which began in 1978, is held annually at Michigan State's Forest Akers West Golf Course in September. Named after Michigan State's longtime head coach from 1973-97, the invitational features the top teams in the Midwest. Michigan State has won the event 11 times, including seven times since 2005 and most recently in 2013.
