YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University football team opened its second week of practice back in the familiar spot on the gray turf inside Rynearson Stadium Monday, Aug. 7. After the team opened camp last week in southwestern Ohio, fourth-year Head Coach Chris Creighton ran the team through its fifth practice of the fall.

"The first week was really good down in Ohio," added Creighton. "We got a lot of work done and had some great team bonding time being together down there so it was outstanding. It is good to be back – it breaks things up even with the extra time in camp. (I) thought it was going to be a long time in camp already, so breaking it up with a week somewhere else helps."

With practice back at "The Factory" it also begins our breakdown of the position groups on the squad with the attention first turned to the quarterbacks.

Under center redshirt senior Brogan Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Toledo St. John's Jesuit) looks to build off the success from 2016 when he put up tall numbers in his 10 appearances. The Maumee, Ohio native had six 300-yard games, including a season-high of 468 yards against Ball State University. Roback was named a Manning Award Star of the Week for the period ending Oct. 15, 2016, while also collecting MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 15, Nov. 14 and Nov. 28. The signal caller already ranks third in career touchdown passes (38), fourth in completions (500), fourth in passing yardage (5,763), and fifth in total offense (6,033).

With the wealth of experience for Roback, the remaining four EMU quarterbacks have yet to take a collegiate snap.

Redshirt freshman Isaac Stiebeling (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Snider) and redshirt sophomore Anton Skupin (South Lyon, Mich.-South Lyon) both earned valuable time in practice last year along with playing in the spring game earlier this year. Meanwhile, junior Mike Glass III (St. Louis, Mo.-Hazelwood Central-Southwestern College) and freshman Preston Hutchinson (Mason, Ohio-Mason) are working quickly to immerse themselves in the playbook.
