Men's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Slate

The Eagles released a 13-game non-conference schedule, including seven home games

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Murphy released the squad's 2017-18 non-conference schedule Monday, Aug. 21. The Eagles will host seven games inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center, while they will travel for six, including two games as part of the Hoosier Tipoff Classic.
"We are very excited about our challenging but balanced non-conference slate," stated Murphy. "Our (non conference) schedule will help put us in position to compete for a Mid-American Conference championship"
The Eagles open the season at home Friday, Nov. 10, against Spring Arbor as part of a doubleheader with the EMU women's basketball team. The Green and White wrap up opening weekend with a 2 p.m. tip against Michigan-Dearborn Sunday, Nov. 12, before turning its focus to the Hoosier Tipoff Classic.
As part of the four-game tournament hosted by University of Indiana, Eastern welcomes Arkansas State, Nov. 16, and Howard, Nov. 18. From there, the Eagles hit the road for two games beginning with a trip to Bloomington, Ind. for a clash with Indiana, Nov. 24. After its meeting with the Hoosiers, EMU soars to the Sunshine State for a game against South Florida, Nov. 26, to close out the classic.
Remaining in Florida, Eastern Michigan treks to Jacksonville to take on North Florida, Nov. 29, before returning to the Convocation Center. The Eagles host Oakland, Dec. 6, in the first of game a home-and-home with the Golden Grizzlies, and then welcome Central State, Dec. 9.
A crazy three-game road stretch sees the Green and White head to the west coast for a tilt with Long Beach State, Dec. 16. Then, after a stop back in the Mitten for its second game against Oakland, Dec. 22, and a short holiday break, Eastern travels to upstate New York to take on Syracuse, Dec. 27.
The Eagles close out non-conference play at home, Dec. 29, when they host Rochester at 2 p.m.
EMU's 18-game Mid-American Conference schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
