Men's Golf Nabs GCAA President's Special Recognition Academic Honors

The Eagles were honored as one of the top academic squads in the nation

NORMAN, Okla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced today, July 19, that the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team received the President's Special Recognition Academic Team Award following the 2016-17 season.

The Eagles were one of just 19 Division I teams to receive the special honor. Additionally, Eastern was the only Mid-American Conference school to receive the distinction. To receive the President's Special Recognition award, teams must have an overall team GPA of 3.5 or better.

In total, 39 teams across Division I, II, III, and NAIA received the honor. The Green and White were also named an All-Academic Team for their academic success. To earn All-Academic honors, a team must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
