Alumnus Donald Scott Secures Spot on Team USA for World Championships

The honor comes after Scott finished third in the triple jump at the USATF Outdoor Championships

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men's track and field alumnus and current volunteer coach Donald Scott competed at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships yesterday, June 23, in Sacramento, Calif. There, Scott had an outstanding performance in his signature event, the triple jump.

Competing against the nation's best, Scott turned in the best mark of his career. In the third round, the former All-American launched 17.25 meters/ 56 feet 7.25-inches, shattering his previous personal-best, in addition to bettering his EMU best by .42 meters. Ultimately, that jump was good for third-place in the country, as the fourth-place competitor turned in a mark of 17.05 meters/ 55 feet 11.25-inches. Based on his finish, Scott will be representing the United States of America at the upcoming IAAF World Championships in London.

Scott and the remainder of Team USA will compete against the rest of the world in London at the IAAF World Championships from Aug. 4-13.
