Frezzotti brings a wide variety of experience both as a player and coach
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Softball Coach Melissa Gentile announced the addition of Magali Frezzotti to the coaching staff Wednesday, June 7. Frezzotti will take over the role of volunteer assistant coach for the 2018 season. At EMU, Frezzotti will work primarily with catchers and slappers.
"I am thrilled to bring Magali on board with us as she brings a ton of passion, experience and insight to our staff," Gentile said. "She is still actively playing for her National Team and played for the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fastpitch League last season. She is a catcher and lefty hitter/slapper who will be able to help us in both of those facets of the game."
Frezzotti comes to Ypsilanti following a two-year stint at Concordia University in Ann Arbor. There, she served a graduate assistant, creating the Cardinals strength and conditioning program, oversaw team building exercises, and worked closely with hitters and catchers.
As a player, Frezzotti has been a standout catcher for the Argentina National Team since 2005. A team captain for her native country, Frezzotti has participated in the World Cup (2015), Pan American Championships (2005, 2009, and 2013), Pan American Games (2007 and 2011), and World Championships (2010 and 2012). Most recently, Frezzotti played for the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fastpitch League during the 2016 season.
Frezzotti earned her bachelor's degree in physical education with a minor in strength, conditioning, and nutrition from Instituto Numero 1 Dr. Enrique Romero Brest in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2012. In the spring of 2017, she secured her master's in student personnel administration in higher education from Concordia University.
