CLEVELAND, Ohio. (EMUEagles.com) -
For the eighth time in his career, redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio - Maumee) of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team has been named the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, May 2.

Fink continued his strong season this past week, heading to the competitive Penn Relays. There, he took part in the 5000m run, bringing home silver with a time of 13:54.85. He was just over a second away from finishing atop the podium. Fink's mark also currently sits at No. 1 in the conference by nearly six seconds and also holds the No. 40 spot in the nation.

This marks the fourth time this year that Fink has earned the honor, as he received the accolade once last month and twice during the indoor season. He also secured the honor three times last season, as well as once in 2015.

Following a weekend free from competition, the Eagles will gear up for the postseason, which begins with the Outdoor MAC Championships next week, May 11-13, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
