YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Coming off of the best finish in program history at last season's race, the Eastern Michigan University rowing squad will look to capture its first CAA Championship at the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Rowing Championship, Sunday, May 14, at Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
Last season, the Eagles clinched third place, a program-best finish. The Green and White placed third in the Second Varsity 8, fourth in the Varsity 8, and sixth in the Varsity 4 races, earning an overall score of 18, topping the previous program record by one. Following the event, Stephanie Schlosser and Tauan Jeffery were named to the All-CAA team, while Schlosser was named to the CAA All-Academic team as well.
EMU will be up against boats from Delaware, Drexel, Villanova, Buffalo, and defending champions Northeastern. EMU, Delaware, Drexel, and Villanova are all in search of their first titles, while Buffalo has earned the championship once and Northeastern has claimed the title six times.
The Eagles enter the weekend seeded No. 4 in the Varsity 8, No. 3 in the 2V8 and No. 6 in the Varsity 4. Northeastern is tabbed as the No. 1 seed across the board.
