CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Accolades continue to roll in for Eastern Michigan University softball senior Michelle Kriegshauser (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln Way Central), as the Eagles' right fielder was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 7, the league office announced Wednesday, May 10.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition.

Earning the award for the first time in her career, Kriegshauser adds to a week that has already seen her garner MAC West Division Player of the Week, as well as Second Team All-MAC honors. She is the first EMU softball player to be named MAC Scholar Athlete since 2012, when Jenna Ignowski was recognized.

A speech language pathology major with a 3.59 GPA, Kriegshauser hit a staggering .533 at the plate, going 8-for-15 with two doubles and a home run, and continued her ascent up the EMU and MAC record books in Eastern's doubleheaders against Oakland and Central Michigan.

Kriegshauser began the week with a 2-for-3 outing against Oakland, helping the Green and White snap a seven-game losing skid. She followed that up with a 2-for-4 effort in the night cap of the doubleheader, fueling the Eagles to yet another win. From there, Kriegshauser wreaked havoc against Central Michigan, May 7, touching up the MAC Regular Season Champion Chippewas. The New Lenox, Ill. native combined to go 4-for-8 with a double and a home run. With the double, the 57th of her career, Kriegshauser continued to solidify herself as the EMU record holder, while also moving into a tie for second all-time in MAC laurels. Additionally, it marked the 17th two-bagger of the season for Kriegshauser, tying the EMU single season record.

Kriegshauser finishes her career with a .361 career batting average, the best in EMU laurels, and also is slotted second in home runs (29) and tied for second in hits (211), while ranking fifth in runs (110) and sixth in RBI's (106).
