Dan McLean and Becky Demeduk will attend the NAADD Conference as part of mentor and diversity leadership programs
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Associate Athletic Director for Development Dan McLean and Eagles Pride Fund Director Becky Demeduk have been selected to participate in special programs sponsored by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD), June 11-14, in Orlando, Fla.
McLean was selected to be a participant in the Bobby Purcell Mentor Program, which will pair him with NAADD Executive Committee Member, Dan Cloran, of The Ohio State University. The Bobby Purcell Mentor Program creates an opportunity for NAADD members to develop a mentor-mentee relationship with a member of the NAADD Executive Committee to learn more about the development profession and to broaden his/her network. The mentor program consists of a campus visit to the executive committee member's institution, regular "check-ins" throughout the year and one on one interaction at the NACDA convention.
"I am very honored to be selected for the Bobby Purcell Mentor Program," said McLean. "The opportunity to connect with Dan, the other mentees, and NAADD Executive Committee members will allow me to build new relationships across our profession and bring back great ideas to improve Eastern Michigan Athletics. I want to thank the NAADD Executive committee for the opportunity, as well as the EMU Foundation and EMU Athletics for supporting professional development."
Demeduk was selected to be a participant in the NAADD Diversity Initiative. 2017 marks the 11th year of the initiative which awards convention stipends to minority and female fundraisers within collegiate athletics. NAADD is committed to creating and reinforcing an inclusive environment in which opportunities for networking and professional development are fostered and nurtured.
"It is a great opportunity to be able to attend the annual NAADD Conference," remarked Demeduk. "I'm grateful this year especially to be attending as a Diversity Scholarship recipient. I'm most excited to learn from some of the best in our business how we can continue to grow Eagles Pride and support for EMU student-athletes."
