Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Brent Mattson and women's track athlete Jordann McDermitt.
Brent Mattson

Year: Junior
Major: Finance
Week's Achievements: Mattson tossed EMU's second complete-game shutout in the last five games in a 4-0 win over Butler University, Sunday, April 2. The righty went the distance, only surrendering two hits, both singles, while striking out six. It was the first complete game of his career.

Week's Achievements: McDermitt had an incredible race at the Stanford Invitational last Friday, March 31. McDermitt took part in the 10000m run, finishing in 13th-place after clocking in at 33:37.36. Not only was her time a personal-best, but it also broke the EMU record by nearly 30 seconds. The Davison, Mich. native's time currently ranks No. 10 in the NCAA.
