TALE OF THE TAPE: Eastern Michigan and Michigan State have squared off a total of 43 times ahead of Tuesday's tilt. Michigan State owns a 29-14 lead in the all-time series. The Spartans most recently walked-off against the Eagles last season, April 27, 2016, using a three-run seventh to stun EMU by a final score of 3-2.
TAKING ON THE MITTEN: The Eagles have squared off against schools hailing from the state of Michigan 405 times ahead of a midweek clash with the Spartans of Michigan State. The Eagles have been most successful against Detroit, holding a 48-8 lead in the all-time series while clashing with Western Michigan most often. In 109 all-time meetings, the Broncos hold a 69-42-1 edge over the Eagles. EMU owns winning records against Grand Valley State (2-0) and Oakland (17-6-1), but trail in the all-time series with Michigan (8-56), Michigan State (14-29), and Central Michigan (31-72-1).
DUO BREAKS OUT AGAINST BRONCOS: In Eastern Michigan three-game set versus Western Michigan over the weekend, the Eagles' power hitting duo of Michelle Kriegshauser and Amanda Akles combined to go 10-for-16 with three runs scored, two doubles, and a home run. Kriegshauser paced the offensive output, hitting a blistering .667, including a 1.333 slugging percentage, while Akles hit at a .600 clip
RETURNING TO FORM: Amanda Akles entered Mid-American Conference play with a batting average hovering at .176. Since the start of league play, Akles is hitting a hefty .373 at the plate with four doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBI's. She ranks second on the team for doubles over the stretch, and has hit all but two of the Eagles' home runs since March 24. Additionally, her 11 RBIs not only rank top on the squad over the past 18 games, but she has nearly double the number of the next closest Eagle.
ON DECK: The Eagles remain on the road this weekend, April 28-29, as the Green and White return to Mid-American Conference West Division action. Eastern tangles with Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Ill. for a three-game conference series.
