Eagles Split Up for Trio of Outdoor Meets

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team keeps the outdoor season rolling this week, traveling west to the Mt. SAC Relays, April 13-15, in Torrance, Calif., the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, April 13, in Long Beach, Calif., and the Ball State Challenge, April 14-15, in Muncie, Ind. The Green and White will have a small contingent of distance runners head to the west coast, while the remainder of the team will travel to Ball State.
The Mt. SAC Relays can be followed through both a FloTrack live stream, as well as live results. The FloTrack stream does require a FloPro subscription, however. Additionally, live results are also available for both the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and the Ball State Challenge. Last week, the Eagles competed in the very tough Tennessee Relays, April 6-8, in Knoxville, Tenn. Sophomore Jessica Harris (Slidell, La. - Slidell) turned in a 12th-place finish in the 100m dash, clocking in an outdoor personal-best time of 11.91 seconds. The 400m dash saw junior Jasmine Jones (Greensburg, Pa. - Hempfield Area) take 14th, as she crossed the finish line in 56.03 seconds. In the 800m run, junior Rebekah Branham (Circleville, Ohio - Circleville) was able to secure 14th as well, posting a time of 2:14.18.
In the 5000m run, senior Anna Aldrich (Fremont, Ind. - Fremont) had a strong race, crossing the finish line in a career-best 17:00.88 to take 10th. Additionally, her time was also the ninth-quickest in the EMU record books. Senior Natalie Uy (Kettering, Ohio - Fairmont) placed in the top-five of the pole vault, nabbing fifth with a mark of 3.85 meters/ 12 feet 7.5-inches, while junior Dace Dreimane (Ventspils, Latvia - Ventspils Gymnasium No. 1) secured seventh in the long jump.
Eastern will have five competitors at the Mt. SAC Relays. EMU will have one participant in the women's 800m run open, which will take place Friday, April 14, at 2:30 p.m. pacific time. The Eagles will also compete in the 1500m run elite invite, women's 5000m run elite invite, and the women's 5000m run open, which will occur at 6:35 p.m., 7:50 p.m., and 9:35 p.m. pacific time, respectively. The Pacific Coast Intercollegiate kicks off Thursday, April 13, at 9 a.m. pacific time with the women's javelin throw. Track events are scheduled to being later in the day at 1 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay. More information on the meet can be found here.
The Ball State Challenge begins Friday, April 14, with the men's hammer throw at 1 p.m. Action resumes on Saturday, April 15, with the men's discus throw at 10 a.m., while track events will pick up at 12:10 p.m. with the men's 5000m run.
