EMU Volleyball Releases 2017 Schedule

The Eagles will compete in 16 non-conference matches before MAC play

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Volleyball Coach Kimi Olson announced the regular season schedule for the upcoming 2017 campaign, April 10. This year, the Eagles will see four non-conference tournaments before EMU hits the 16-match Mid-American Conference schedule. The 2017 campaign will mark the third season with Olson leading the Eagles, while it also signifies the 41st season of varsity volleyball competition at EMU.

The Green and White will open the season by traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. to take part in a tournament hosted by the Butler University, Aug. 25-26. Eastern's season opener will pit the Eagles against Oakland University at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, and Robert Morris University at 4:30 p.m. EMU will finish out the tournament with a doubleheader Saturday, Aug. 26, where it will take on Stony Brook University at 2 p.m. before squaring off with the host Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
    
The Eagles' second tournament of the season will take place in Laramie, Wyo. when the Green and White head to the University of Wyoming, Sept. 1-2. Eastern will square off with the host Cowgirls, Friday evening, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m. before taking on Purdue University the next morning, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. EMU will close out the tournament with a 5 p.m. match that night versus Jacksonville University. 

The following weekend, Eastern will travel to Towson, Md. and take part in a tournament hosted by Towson University, Sept. 8-10, where it will compete in five matches. The Eagles begin that tournament with a doubleheader Friday, Sept. 8, versus Quinnipiac University at 10 a.m. and George Mason University at 2:30 p.m., before taking part in another double dip on Saturday, Sept. 9. Saturday, the Green and White will take on Cal State Fullerton at 10 a.m. before it is pit against the Lafayette College at 4:45 p.m. Finally, the Eagles will close out the tournament with the host Tigers on Sunday, Sept. 10, at noon.

The Eagles next non-conference tilt will be EMU's lone midweek contest, as Eastern will open up the home season with Fort Wayne on Tuesday night, Sept. 12. The match is slated for 6 p.m. at the Convocation Center and will be broadcast live on ESPN 3.
    
The Eagles will complete the non-conference portion of their schedule with a tournament at Chicago State University, Sept. 15-16. Eastern will open the CSU tournament with a match versus Southeast Missouri State University, Friday afternoon, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. before a contest with the host Cougars at 7 p.m. later that night. EMU closes out non-conference play with a 2 p.m. match against the University of Louisiana Lafayette, Sept. 16.

Following non-conference play, the Eagles will close out the season with 16-straight MAC matches, vying for one of the coveted top-eight spots to qualify for the 2017 MAC Volleyball Tournament at the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center in DeKalb, Ill., Nov. 16-19. Northern Illinois will host the tournament after winning the MAC Tournament a season ago.
