YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - With the outdoor season well underway, the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team travels to Stanford, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational, March 31 - April 1. Eastern will be sending a small contingent of distance runners to compete against some of the nation's best in the 5000m and the 10000m.

The Stanford Invitational can be followed from home through both live results, as well as a live stream. The stream, which is provided by FloTRACK, requires a FloPRO subscription. Links to both can be found on the men's track and field schedule page of EMUEagles.com.

Last week, Eastern lifted the lid on the outdoor season with the Raleigh Relays, March 24-25, down in North Carolina. Day one in Raleigh saw junior Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio - Hudson) finish fourth in the 100m dash, clocking in at 10.68 seconds, while sophomore Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich. - Clinton) secured fifth in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 47.94 seconds. In the 1500m run, redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio - Maumee) turned in an 11th-place finish in a field of more than 100 runners, crossing the finish line in a career-best 3:47.09. Finally, freshman Colin Etchen (Edgerton, Ohio - Edgerton) finished atop the podium in the pole vault, notching a mark of 4.72 meters/ 15 feet 5.75-inches.

On day two, Antonio turned in another top-10 finish, this time securing ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.91 seconds. Eastern also finished in the top-five of three different relays, taking fourth in the 4x100m and fifth in the 4x400m. The highlight, however, came in the 4x1500m relay, where the Green and White took home the gold with a time of 15:37.52. Additionally, redshirt senior Anthony Jones (Sandusky, Ohio - Sandusky) made his season debut, finishing eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 58.07 meters/ 190 feet 6-inches, while sophomore Derek Ziegenfuss (Allentown, Pa. - Parkland) snagged the bronze in the javelin with a throw of 64.65 meters/ 212 feet 1-inch.

The meet is scheduled to begin Friday, March 31, at 9 a.m. PT with the men's javelin, while track events will start at 11 a.m. with section four of the men's 5000m. Action resumes Saturday, April 1, at 9 a.m. again with the boys' discus, which is part of the high school meet. Similarly, track events will get underway at 11 a.m. with the girls' 4x100m relay.
