The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with sign-in, followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. A post-outing lunch will take place at the clubhouse around 2 p.m. The outing will precede game two of the weekend series versus the University of Toledo, with Friday's game set to begin at 6 p.m.
Those wishing to participate can sign up with a foursome for $500, or individually for $125. The price includes 18 holes with a cart, an open practice range and putting green, giveaways throughout the day, food at the turn, and the post-outing lunch, which will include an open bar. Individuals or companies who would like to sponsor a hole can do so for $100, or for $150 they can be an elite hole sponsor, which would include the company logo on the sign, as well as words of encouragement for the EMU baseball team.
For $1,000 dollars, you can also be the giveaway sponsor by helping cover the costs of this years giveaway. By doing so, you will receive prominent signage with your name or company name at check-in. All proceeds go to the support of the EMU baseball team.
This year's golf outing will be a part of the annual Alumni Weekend. This year, the team will honor the 35th and 10th anniversary of the 1982 and 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship teams with a pregame ceremony.
The 1982 squad won the fourth MAC regular season title in program history, as well as the second straight MAC tournament title, going 3-0 to win the championship. Their efforts earned the fifth trip to the NCAA tournament in EMU history, heading to the NCAA Central Regional. There, EMU went 3-2, knocking off the likes of Florida State and Oklahoma, before losing to Texas in the regional final. Overall, the team finished with a 39-23-2 record, with the 39 wins amounting to the fourth most in a single season in program history. The 1982 team was an offensive juggernaut, finishing in the top ten in a single season in numerous offensive categories, including first in walks (286), second in triples (30), fourth in runs (417), fifth in batting average (.312), seventh in RBIs (362), ninth in hits (579), and tenth in home runs (48). The 1982 team would wind up having six players eventually selected in the MLB draft.
The 2007 EMU Eagles team had a remarkable MAC regular season, running through its competition with a 21-4 record, tied for the most wins in a conference season, as well as the best winning percentage in a conference regular season as well. With that record, EMU won its second MAC West title, as well as the fifth regular season crown, becoming the last EMU team to do so. In the MAC Tournament, EMU was upset in the finals by No. 2 seeded Kent State, 3-2, to end the Eagles' season without a postseason opportunity. The pitching staff was the strength of the '07 squad, finishing with the eighth most strikeouts, as well as the most saves in program history with 16. The closer that season, current MLB player Matt Shoemaker, set the program record in saves with 14. Four players from that team would wind up being drafted into the professional ranks, while Shoemaker was signed as an undrafted free agent.
