Women's Swimming & Diving's Season Comes to a Close at NCAA Championships

Alexis Mitcheltree was EMU's top finisher, claiming 46th in the 200 Backstroke
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team saw its season come to a close Saturday morning, March 18, on the final day of the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
Senior Alexis Mitcheltree (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) paced the Eagles, turning in a 46th-place finish in the 200 Backstroke. Mitcheltree shaved more than a tenth off her seeded time, clocking in with a time of 1:56.61, in her final collegiate race.
In the 200 Breaststroke, sophomore Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) closed the book on a sensational season, taking 61st with a time of 2:14.17.
Saturday's races marked the end of the season for the Eagles, who finished the 2016-17 campaign with an 8-0 record in duals, including 4-0 in Mid-American Conference bouts.
