It matches the third largest cash pledge in the history of EMU Athletics

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — A $500,000 gift to the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics will support the Championship Building Plan, an innovative community engagement program, as well as impact the University's more than 500 student-athletes with facility enhancements. The gift, from Champions Advisory Board member and EMU Track & Field alumnus, Dan McClory matches the third largest cash pledge ever received by EMU Athletics.

McClory is a two-time graduate of Eastern Michigan University, holding both Bachelor's and Master's degrees (1981, 1982). He was a three-time captain and four-year letter winner for EMU's cross country team, as well as a four-year letter winner in men's indoor and outdoor track.

McClory serves as the Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets/Head of China for Boustead Securities, an investment banking firm operating in Los Angeles, London and Beijing that advises clients and executes on IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and corporate finance assignments in a wide array of industries.

"The leadership shown by the EMU Department of Athletics to conceive and build support for the new facilities plan has been tremendous" said McClory. "The new indoor facility will provide our EMU track & field teams with a training and competitive environment in keeping with our rich history of NCAA and Olympic success in those sports."

EMU has developed a comprehensive and transformative vision to enhance academic opportunities, improve health and well-being for all students, and update athletic facilities to positively impact the University. The intercollegiate athletics component to enhance facilities, titled the Championship Building Plan, will consolidate department infrastructure, create academic opportunities, and strengthen student, fan, community and alumni experiences.

As permanent recognition of McClory's generosity, he has chosen to honor legendary Coach Bob Parks and his wife Pat, a long-time EMU employee, former EMU teammate and current Head Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Sue Parks, and her deceased brother Steve, an EMU graduate and former employee, by naming the proposed new 300-meter indoor track the "Bob Parks Family Indoor Track." The vision will help unite nearly all of EMU Athletics on the University's West Campus with upgrades planned for training, practice, and competition for student-athletes. The project would be the first major athletics facility enhancement designed to enrich nearly every one of EMU's 21 varsity teams since the Convocation Center was completed in 1998.

"Dan's genuine support and investment in our Track & Field and Cross Country teams is remarkable," said EMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "We are so appreciative for his insight and perspective which shaped many elements of the Championship Building Plan and allows us to showcase our one-of-a-kind track & field family and Olympic legacy at Eastern Michigan."

The Championship Building Plan is pending approval by the EMU Board of Regents. Further details and renderings will continue to be made public as they become available.

McClory has previously shown his generosity for EMU's track and field program with the department's then-largest donation in February of 2008.
